Hello!
I’m Patrick Lutz
I’m a multimedia designer based in Fairfax, VA. I love working making fun designs that playful layouts full of friendly shapes and delicious colors. Please check out my works in the header sections and contact me if you would like to work together!
I’ve been a graphic designer for over 4 years at a patent design office in Northern Virginia. I primarily spent my time creating highly detailed and accurate illustrations for popular shoe, car, and sports brands. Otherwise I would be compiling data into visually compelling infographics to be used in courtroom litigation. Through personal passion for the craft, I also single-handedly forged the social media department and spearheaded over 25 company-wide animation campaigns to reach over 10,000 new and returning viewers.
In my own time, I’ve been working on freelance design and animation projects, most notably to produce the instructional video for the Play Nine card game. My wife and I also founded a small business called PJs Everyday where we both design, manufacture, and sell original and fan art designs. You can find us online or at conventions throughout the East Coast!
What compels me to be a successful designer is the drive to approach each challenge like a puzzle; something to be solved with focus, logic, and creativity (it’s no surprise I’m a fan of escape rooms). I begin each project by asking “why?” Why this piece, this message, this format? Whether it’s through open conversation with a client or by quietly dissecting a request on my own, I work through each step methodically, building a plan before I begin. From there, I adapt fluidly - much like water filling every crack - attentive to detail, ready to adjust, and determined to carry the project to its final, polished form.
What keeps me going is finding ways to infuse color into my life. The warm, cozy browns as I sketch at the boba cafe. The plush greens and teals of the felt that I craft with. The playful neon hues of the lights that wrap around my breakfast nook. And most importantly, the scruffy orange and white fur from my 2 little dogs that root for me every day from their beds by my desk.
